Smuggler Ben was really a fisherboy who loved pretending to be a smuggler. Orange cloth, red titles and small vignette to front cover. Tower House Series. Written under the name of Mary Pollock, a pseudonym of Enid Blyton. Top & tail of spine shelf worn with slight fading to base of spine. Blue sticker stuck to front pastedown and inscription in ink to front endpaper. Pictorial dustwrapper is edge-worn with a few small chips, loss to base of spine.

A couple of small dents to cover edges. Vertical crease to front cover. Covers slightly scuffed, some browning to rear cover. Rear joint just starting to crack. Two names to front pastedown, one crossed out. Faint coloured writing to front endpaper, some surface paper damage caused when trying to erase. Top corner missing from page 119. Pages browned. Colouring to one illustration.

A little fading to top edges of covers. Name and address and crossed out name, all in ink, to front endpaper. Light foxing to text block. Text pages very good. Dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped. Spine and rear panel are slightly grubby/darkened. Surface paper damage to front panel above horse's head and to book list on rear panel.

Tower House Series. Peach cloth covers with red titles, small vignette to front cover. B/w illustrations. 128 pages. Approx. 7.5 x 5". Some damp staining to covers, front cover is worst. A little uneven fading and a few fox spots too. Front pastedown is wrinkled. Light browning staining to edges of endpapers and title page. Text pages very good. Dustwrapper is edge worn with a few tears and chips. Front flap almost detached. Tape repairs to verso visible on front. Light brown and pink stains to rear panel and flap.

Some foxing, mainly to endpapers, prelims and text block. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped at ends of spine and folds. Tear to base of spine repaired with clear tape on verso. Small hole near base of front fold. Spine, folds and verso browned. Rear panel slightly grubby. Foxing to verso.
